Hawks welcome 126 football players for preseason

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – Huntingdon head coach Mike Turk and his staff welcomed 126 football players to campus on Wednesday for the start of preseason camp.

Huntingdon will begin preseason practice on Thursday at 9 a.m. with a group that includes 71 returning players and 55 newcomers.

The Hawks will have 11 days of practice before classes begin on Aug. 26. Huntingdon opens the season at home against Guilford College on Sept. 7.

Head Coach Mike Turk on the players reporting: "We've been looking forward to getting the guys back in here and the check-in process is the next step. Thursday we will hit the field and begin preparing for the season. We have fewer opportunities to prepare this year than we ever have, so every minute of the preseason is going to be valuable and needed."

Preseason practice schedule: The Hawks will practice at 9 a.m. each day from Thursday through Saturday. Sunday's practice will be held in the afternoon. Practices are open to the public.

Looking ahead: The football team is the first of six Huntingdon athletic teams scheduled to report for preseason practice. Men's and women's soccer, volleyball and men's and women's cross country report on Friday.
