Hawks Fall in USA South Matchup Against Belhaven

JACKSON, Miss. – Hawks Football (4-2 overall, 2-1 USA South) dropped their conference game to Belhaven University (5-0 overall, 3-0 USA South) with a final score of 29-3.

The Blazers won the toss and chose to receive to start the game. On their opening drive, Cameron Reynolds ended the Blazers 43-yard drive with an interception to secure the ball for the Hawks.

Huntingdon came up empty on their opening drive as Hunter Kirkland was forced to punt in a 4th and 10 situation. Belhaven followed up with a 48-yard rushing touchdown and shot the score to 8-0 with a two-point conversion.

The first quarter finalized at 8-0 and another Belhaven drive started at the 14:52 mark to begin the second quarter. The Blazers added two more touchdowns before halftime and the Huntingdon offense was unable to succeed in the Belhaven endzone (22-0).

After the first half, the Hawks ended a 58-yard opening drive with a 25-yard field goal by Will Edwards for the only three points of the game (22-3).

Neither team made it to the other endzone in the third quarter, but the Blazers deemed success in the fourth with a final touchdown in the closing five minutes (29-3).

Other Game Notes:

The Blazers had seven more first downs than the Hawk and had over 200 more offensive yards.

Huntingdon rushed for 106 yards compared to Belhaven's 411.
