Huntingdon men close out regular season with loss at Pensacola Christian

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team started strong but couldn't get by Pensacola Christian on Tuesday night.

The Hawks led by four at the half but fell 88-76 in the final game of the regular season.

"We were up at halftime and we just went cold in the second half," Huntingdon head coach Mike Pugh said. "When we went cold, they started making their shots."

Jason Varney led Huntingdon (7-18) with 17 points, Courtnee Edgar scored 16 points and Kanden Blackmon added 12 points. Jeremiah Thomas finished with nine points and seven rebounds.

The Hawks return to action on Friday in the Great South Athletic Conference tournament at LaGrange. The Hawks play top-seeded LaGrange at 2:30 p.m. The two teams met last week, with LaGrange taking a 66-65 win at Roland Arena.

"We know it's going to be a tough and competitive game. It's that way each time we play them," Pugh said. "If we come out and play the way we're capable, we expect it to be a good game."
