Huntingdon men’s basketball comes up short at Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team led for much of the game on Sunday, but Greensboro College rallied late to win 75-71.

"We played better but we couldn't pull it out down the stretch," Huntingdon head coach Mike Pugh said. "We led for most of the game and we felt like we should have won, but missed free throws and turnovers hurt us again."

Huntingdon (1-6) was just 13-of-25 from the free-throw line and committed 21 turnovers. Still, the Hawks led until the final 10 minutes of the game.

Greensboro (4-3) took the lead and built a nine-point lead in the final five minutes. Trailing 72-63, Ryan Petty scored seven points and Terry Moorer sank a free throw to make it a 72-71 game with 51 seconds to play. Greensboro sank three free throws in the final 21 seconds to seal the game.

Moorer finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks for Huntingdon. Jeremiah Thomas added 18 points and nine rebounds and Petty finished with 12 points.

Huntingdon plays at Millsaps on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
