Thomas’ 28 points power Hawks past William Peace

SALEM, Va. – Jeremiah Thomas turned in a career-high scoring performance to help the Huntingdon men's basketball team down William Peace 82-68 on Wednesday.

Thomas finished with 28 points and nine rebounds to earn All-Tournament honors in the Morris Cregger Invitational at Roanoke College. Thomas was 8-for-11 from the field and 12-for-16 from the free-throw line.

The win capped a stretch of four games in five days for Huntingdon (4-9).

"We played hard and picked up a good win," Huntingdon head coach Mike Pugh said. "This has been a tough trip. We've played four good teams in five days and battled injuries and illness, but I'm proud of the way our guys responded. A lot was asked of our guys, but we kept battling.

"Jeremiah played a big game today. He's been sick the past few days but he's played through it. Ryan Petty had a good game today and made some key plays for us and Austin Hill played really well. We're just ready to get home, get some of our guys well and some others healed up and get ready for our next game."

Petty finished with 16 points and four rebounds and Hill added 11 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Jerrod Lee added nine points and five assists and Jamal Bias had nine points.

Huntingdon returns to action on Monday night, hosting Pensacola Christian at 7 p.m.
