Huntingdon men’s basketball loses at Maryville

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team fell behind early and lost to Maryville 108-78 on Saturday.

Maryville built a double-digit lead in the first eight minutes of the game, led by 17 points at the half and continued to pull away in the second half.

Jason Varney and Austin Hill each scored 17 points for the Hawks and Terry Moorer had 12 points and eight rebounds. Taylor Hughes had six assists.

Maryville (18-7, 13-1 USA South) has clinched the USA South Athletic Conference regular-season title and will host the conference tournament beginning on Thursday. With one conference game remaining, Huntingdon (9-14, 8-5 USA South) is fourth in the conference standings behind LaGrange (15-9, 9-4 USA South) and Averett (12-13, 9-5 USA South).

Huntingdon plays its final conference game at LaGrange on Sunday at 4 p.m.
