Men’s basketball stumbles against Methodist

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon's starting five combined for 68 points on Sunday but it wasn't enough in an 80-69 loss to Methodist.

The Monarchs (4-7, 1-1 USA South) took the lead in the first minute of the game and never trailed. Huntingdon (2-9, 1-1 USA South) fell behind by as many as 11 points in the first half and trailed 42-33 at halftime. Huntingdon opened the second half with a 9-1 run to pull within a point and only trailed 58-52 with 10 minutes to play.

But the Hawks could not close the gap. Methodist remained just out of reach and closed out the game.

Jerome Davis led three Hawks in double figures with 19 points. Dantavius Washington turned in his second double-double in two games with 18 points and 11 rebounds and Andre Ashley added 15 points and eight rebounds. Alex Layson finished with nine points and Raheem Berry had seven points and five rebounds.

Huntingdon returns to action on Tuesday at AUM at 7 p.m.
