ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team got off to a slow start on Saturday and lost to North Carolina Wesleyan 92-63.
The Hawks (2-14, 1-4 USA South) fell behind by double digits in the first six minutes of the game and trailed 48-32 at halftime. The Battling Bishops (9-6, 3-1 USA South) continued to pull ahead in the second half.
North Carolina Wesleyan sits at the top of the conference standings with just one loss. Five teams currently have two losses in conference play.
"We started slow and we couldn't recover," Huntingdon head coach Mike Pugh said. "North Carolina Wesleyan is the best team we've faced in the conference."
Michael Dallas led Huntingdon with 12 points. Jerome Davis added 11 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists and Alex Layson finished with 10 points.
Huntingdon plays at William Peace on Sunday at noon.
