Hawks rally but come up short against Covenant

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team rallied from an 18-point deficit in the second half but couldn't complete the comeback in a 71-67 loss to Covenant.

Trailing 50-32 in the first four minutes of the second half, the Hawks (3-21, 2-11 USA South) used a 23-9 run to pull within four points with 6:11 to play in the game. Covenant (9-15, 7-6 USA South) pulled back ahead by seven points before Huntingdon made one final push.

Senior Jerome Davis sank a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left to cut Covenant's lead to 69-67. But the Scots hit two free throws to close out the game.

Andre Ashley led Huntingdon with 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists and Davis hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points and four assists. R.J. Jones added 11 points.

Huntingdon closes out the season at home with Senior Day on Saturday against Maryville. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
