DANVILLE, Va. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team fell behind late in the first half and lost to Averett University 85-67 on Saturday.
Huntingdon (8-10, 1-6 USA South) trailed by just two points, 22-20, with 8:06 left in the first half. But the Cougars (14-4, 5-2 USA South) closed out the first half with a 21-6 run to pull away and take control.
Raheem Berry had 16 points and three steals for the Hawks and R.J. Jones finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. Andre Ashley added 10 points and five rebounds.
Huntingdon plays at Ferrum on Sunday at 3 p.m.
