MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team controlled the game early but came up short in a 68-60 loss to William Peace on Saturday.
The Hawks (8-12, 1-8 USA South) built a 15-point lead, 25-10, in the first seven minutes of the game. But Peace (9-12, 4-6 USA South) rallied with a 25-13 run to close the first half. Huntingdon led 38-35 at halftime.
The Pacers took the lead in the first two minutes of the second half and did not trail again. The Hawks remained within five points for most of the second half but could not close the gap.
Raheem Berry had 13 points for the Hawks and Andre Ashley added 12 points and seven rebounds. Brandon McLean also had seven rebounds.
The Hawks host conference leader North Carolina Wesleyan (14-6, 7-2 USA south) on Sunday at 3 p.m.
