Huntingdon closes out season with loss to LaGrange in OT

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball closed out its season with a 97-87 overtime loss to LaGrange College on Wednesday night.

In a game that featured 12 lead changes, neither team led by more than 10 points.

The Hawks (8-16, 1-12 USA South) built a seven point lead in the first half off an Andre Ashley dunk with 12:09 remaining. After tying the game twice, the Panthers (17-7, 8-5 USA South) took the lead with 3:29 remaining in the half.

Both team traded the lead in the final three minutes of the half before a layup by Dantavius Washington gave Huntingdon a 42-41 lead heading into halftime.

Washington led the Hawks with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

LaGrange used a 12-5 run to start the second half before the Hawks made a comeback and took the lead with 10:25 remaining. LaGrange quickly took the lead back and built a nine point lead, 68-59.

A pair of Brandon McLean free-throws gave Huntingdon a one point lead with 3:56 remaining. The Hawks went up by five but couldn't hold onto the lead as LaGrange sank both free-throws with six seconds left to tie the game. The Hawks had one more chance but couldn't finish on a layup and sent the game into overtime with a score of 80-80.

After the jump-ball to start overtime, LaGrange seized control and never looked back. LaGrange used a 17-7 run to finish the game.

Ashley scored 16 points and collected eight rebounds. McLean added 11 points and recorded seven rebounds.
