MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team recently participated in the 11th annual 'Breakfast for Babies' charity event.

With the help of Da'monta Wiggins, Huntingdon's Coordinator of Community Service, the Hawks and associate head coach Caleb Kimbrough teamed up with other local volunteers to package and sell breakfast for commuters from 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Wiggins was very happy to have the men's basketball team participate.

"It's my first year at Huntingdon, so to have those guys come out made me feel great," Wiggins said. "When you have a whole team come, as well as the coach, you know it's going to be a good event. I see a lot of these guys on campus so it's nice knowing that they will support you just as much as I am going to support them."

The event was held at Chappy's Deli in Montgomery and all donations went to the March of Dimes. The March of Dimes organization helps raise awareness and money to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

Kimbrough said that his players came to him with the idea first and thought his team really enjoyed working the event.

"Da'monta is a great guy to have on campus and he and sophomore Brandon McLean communicated with each other first, so it was the team who brought me the idea," Kimbrough said. "I thought it was great that the guys wanted to get involved, so I was immediately on board. It was important for our team to understand that some of the day-to-day things we deal with are miniscule compared to the day-to-day stuff others have to deal with.

"Coming from the event, the guys are looking to get involved more and hopefully we can team up with other athletic team here at Huntingdon to get out and be involved with future community service projects."
