Men’s Basketball comes up short at Covenant

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team battled Covenant for 40 minutes on Thursday but fell to the Scots 81-70.

Huntingdon led 38-35 at the half and never trailed by more than seven points until the final three minutes of the game. With Covenant leading 65-61 with 5:17 to play, the Scots pulled ahead to a 72-61 lead with 2:29 remaining.

Huntingdon (2-17, 0-8 USA South) cut the Scots' lead to six points three times in the final 1:03, the final time on a pair of Andre Ashley free throws that cut Covenant's lead to 76-60 with 23 seconds left. The Scots (11-10, 4-6 USA South) sealed the game with five free throws in the final 20 seconds.

Ashley was 6-of-9 from the field and 6-for-6 at the free-throw line to finish with 19 points. Brandon McLean added 13 points and Scotty Chadwick pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.

Huntingdon returns to action at home on Saturday against Piedmont at 2 p.m.
