Hawks focusing on team mentality entering men’s basketball season

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon men's basketball team is looking ahead as the season tips off.

As the Hawks prepare to host Berry College at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night, the thoughts of the coaches and players are on what is ahead, not what is behind.

"We are all very excited," said Caleb Kimbrough, who is entering his first full season as Huntingdon's head coach. "We have a new staff, a good group of returning players and we've recruited a lot of guys who come from winning programs that match the standard we are trying to put forth.

"So, the energy level is really high. I think the guys are doing a phenomenal job in moving forward and trying to make the most out of the team we have this year."

The team captains for this season are Brandon McLean, Wyatt Popovich, Trey Livingston and Scotty Chadwick.

Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough on the Hawks' attitude entering the season: "The big thing throughout the preseason is that everything we are doing is about the team. We've watched this group bond and come together and continue to figure out how to support each other in everything we do. We're trying to do what we need to do to become the best team we can possibly be, not the best group of individuals."

Kimbrough on this year's team captains: "The team voted on Wyatt Popovich, Brandon McLean, Trey Livingston and Scotty Chadwick. All of them are doing a phenomenal job of being positive, bringing energy, preaching the team concept and keeping the team motivated."
