Huntingdon comes up short against Maryville

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team battled Maryville College but fell 80-75 on Saturday.

Both teams traded leads in the game, but neither team ever led by more than 12 points. The Hawks trailed for the first 14 minutes of the second half before a basket by Kyante Pines and two free throws by T.C. Elmore put the Hawks in front 70-66 with 4:52 to play.

But Maryville set the tone for the final minutes. The Scots took the lead for good with 2:59 remaining and closed the game with five free throws in the final 1:12.

T.C. Elmore led Huntingdon with 20 points, nine rebounds and three steals and Kyante Pines followed with 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists. R.J. Jones added 12 points, Scotty Chadwick had 10 points and Brandon McLean finished with eight points and seven rebounds.
