Pines’ 28 points leads Huntingdon in loss at Covenant

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team fell behind in the first half and lost to Covenant 86-77 on Saturday.

The Hawks rallied from a 17-point first-half deficit but fell behind again late in the game. Trailing 51-34 at halftime, the Hawks used a 22-9 run to pull within four points, 60-56, midway through the second half.

Covenant used four 3-pointers to pull back ahead and built a 76-60 lead with 5:06 to play. Trailing by 16, Huntingdon rallied again and cut Covenant's lead to 81-75 in the final minute. But the Hawks could not complete the comeback. The Scots closed the game with a layup and three free throws in the final 33 seconds to seal the win.

Junior Kyante Pines led Huntingdon with a season-high 28 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. R.J. Jones added 13 points, Brandon McLean pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds and Bryant Reid had a season-high seven assists to go with seven rebounds. John Jay Graves also had seven rebounds and Cam Boyd had eight points.
