Hawks fall to 18th-ranked Christopher Newport

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team lost to 18th-ranked Christopher Newport 79-52 in the championship game of the Christopher Newport Christmas Tournament on Saturday.

The Hawks fell behind 22-4 in the first nine minutes of the game before rallying and pulling within seven points, 25-18, with 7:23 left in the first half. But the Captains (10-1) answered and built a 42-23 lead at halftime.

Huntingdon (4-6) pulled within 11 points, 43-32, in the first three minutes of the second half, before Christopher Newport pulled away for good.

Isaiah King had 12 points for Huntingdon and B.J. Barker and Aaron Washington each scored 10 points. Kyante Pines finished with nine points and a team-high six rebounds. Barker was named to the all-tournament team.
