Huntingdon takes control early in win over Piedmont

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team set the tone in the first half on Saturday and never let up in an 82-66 win over Piedmont College.

The win was the Hawks' seventh in the past nine games.

Huntingdon (9-7, 6-3 USA South) took a double-digit lead in the first nine minutes of the game and began to pull away. The Hawks took a 20-point lead, their biggest lead of the first half, on a 3-pointer by senior Kyante Pines. Pines' basket made it a 43-23 game with one minute remaining in the first half. Huntingdon led 43-25 at the half.

In the second half, the Hawks eased ahead to a 24-point lead, 57-33, on a basket by Damien Madison with 12:23 to play. Huntingdon would lead by at least 15 points for the remainder of the game.

B.J. Barker and Madison, both freshmen, combined for 29 points for the Hawks. Barker led all scorers with 15 points and Madison added 14 points. Pines followed with 12 points, Aaron Washington had 11 points, Isaiah King scored 10 points and Mykel Woods had eight points.

King, Woods, Trey Livingston, James Harris each had five rebounds. Harris also had a team-high four assists.
