Hawks complete regular-season sweep of Maryville

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team took the lead in the first three minutes on Saturday and controlled the remainder of the game in a 61-54 win over Maryville.

With the win, Huntingdon earned its first regular-season sweep against Maryville during the NCAA era. The Hawks beat Maryville 66-56 in the first meeting this season.

Huntingdon built a 12-point lead in the first half and led 29-22 at halftime. Maryville cut the lead to one, 32-31, less than four minutes into the second half before the Hawks answered. Huntingdon maintained its lead for the remainder of the game, but did not lead by more than eight points.

Leading 55-50 in the final minute, Huntingdon used a layup by freshman Mykel Woods and four free throws by freshman B.J. Barker to seal the win.

Barker finished with 15 points and five rebounds and Damien Madison had 10 points and six rebounds. Kyante Pines finished with nine points and Woods had seven rebounds.
