Huntingdon pushes past Berea

BEREA, Ky. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team earned its third straight win with a 77-68 victory over Berea on Sunday.

The Hawks started strong, fell behind midway through the game and rallied in the second half to beat the Mountaineers.

Leading by six points, 67-61, with less than 90 seconds to play, Huntingdon used a basket from Trey Livingston, a free throw by Charvez' Hobson, a layup from Mykel Woods and a 3-pointer from Jacob Champion to build a 75-63 lead with 41 seconds remaining. B.J. Barker closed the scoring for the Hawks with a pair of free throws with 19 seconds to play.

Kyante Pines led the Hawks with 16 points and eight assists and Champion added 14 points. Pines (3-for-6) and Champion (4-for-8) combined to make 7-of-14 from 3-point range in the game.

Barker and Hobson each finished with nine points and James Harris had eight rebounds.

Huntingdon led for the first 15 minutes of the game before falling behind late in the first half. After trailing 33-30 at halftime, the Hawks fell behind 46-38 in the first six minutes of the second half.

Trailing 46-38 with 14:05 to play in the game, Huntingdon began to turn the momentum. Behind a 20-6 run, Huntingdon regained the lead and was able to control the final minutes of the game.
