Hawks down Brevard on Senior Day to close regular season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a 73-60 win over Brevard on Saturday during Senior Day.

Huntingdon seniors Kyante Pines, Isaiah King, Scotty Chadwick and Trey Livingston combined for 30 points and 15 rebounds in the win.

The win was the 13th of the season for the Hawks (13-12, 10-8 USA South), marking the most wins for the program since the 2008-09 season. Huntingdon's 10 conference wins are the most in a season since beginning play in the USA South in 2013-14.

Huntingdon will enter the USA South Conference Tournament as the fourth seed in the West Division. The Hawks will play at Covenant (17-8, 16-2 USA South) in the first round on Tuesday. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. (Central). This is Huntingdon's first appearance in the conference tournament since the 2013-14 season.

Against Brevard (5-20, 2-16 USAS), Huntingdon took control late in the first half. Tied 18-18 with 8:01 left in the opening half, Huntingdon began to pull away.

The Hawks closed the first half with an 18-3 run to take a 36-21 lead into halftime. Huntingdon led by double digits for the final 21:31 of the game.

In the second half, Huntingdon continued to pull away. The Hawks extended their lead to 20 points in the first 10 minutes of the second half and built their largest lead of the game, 62-36 with 7:48 to play.

Mykel Woods led Huntingdon with 11 points and nine rebounds and Pines and B.J. Barker each added 10 points. King finished with nine points and three steals.
