USA South releases Academic All-Conference selections

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – A total of 184 Huntingdon College student-athletes were recognized with the release of the USA South Academic All-Conference team on Wednesday. The student-athletes, representing each of Huntingdon's 18 athletic programs, were among the 1,702 USA South student-athletes named to the team.

This week is NCAA Division III Week and member institutions across the country are celebrating the ninth-year event. Division III Week, which runs from Monday through Sunday, is intended to recognize the academic and athletic accomplishments as well as the campus leadership and community service efforts of Division III student-athletes. As part of Huntingdon College's participation in Division III Week, 18 student-athletes will be featured this week. Sidney Ison, Charvez' Hobson and Mary Stanley are today's featured student-athletes.

DANVILLE, Va. – The Huntingdon men’s basketball team’s conference tournament run came to an end Saturday night with a 79-73 loss to Methodist in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament championship game.

DANVILLE, Va.  – The Huntingdon men’s basketball team scored twice in the final 16 seconds to knock off Averett University 86-84 in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals on Friday night.   James Harris scored to tie the game 84-84 with 16 seconds remaining and then made a steal with six seconds to play. Harris passed to Aaron Washington who took a contested shot under the basket. Washington’s shot was off the mark, but Jacob Champion was there to tip it in for the win at the buzzer.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon sophomore Damien Madison was recognized by the USA South Athletic Conference with the release of the men’s basketball All-Conference awards. Madison was named second-team All-Conference. He is the first Hawk to be recognized on the All-Conference teams since 2018 and just the fourth men’s basketball player to be recognized since Huntingdon began competing in the USA South during the 2013-14 season.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men’s basketball team took control in the final minutes to eliminate Piedmont 87-72 on Tuesday night in the opening round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament.

BREVARD, N.C.  – The Huntingdon men’s basketball team closed the regular season with an 84-80 loss in overtime to Brevard College. Despite the loss, the Hawks will enter the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the West Division. Huntingdon will host Piedmont in the opening round of the conference tournament on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon men’s basketball team battled Maryville College into the final minutes before falling behind in a 79-67 loss on Saturday.

Aaron Washington was 7-for-11 from the field, including 5-for-6 from 3-point range, and finished with 21 points in Saturday night's win over Covenant.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men’s basketball team knocked off USA South West Division frontrunner Covenant College 72-71 on Saturday night. The Hawks hit 6-of-10 free throws in the final 33 seconds to earn the victory and even up their season record with the Scots. Covenant won the first meeting 79-77 on Dec. 7.
