Huntingdon loses to Berry in season opener

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team opened the season with a 78-66 loss to Berry College on Friday night.

The Hawks rallied from an 18-point deficit in the second half and cut Berry's lead to four points twice in the final five minutes. A basket by Ceaunte Zachery cut the Vikings' lead to 63-59 with 4:40 to play and a basket by Damien Madison made it 67-63 with 2:27 remaining.

Following Madison's basket, the Vikings used a 3-pointer and a layup to make it a nine-point game with 1:41 to play. From there, Berry sank 6-of-8 free throws in the final 40 seconds to close out the game.

Madison led the Hawks with 14 points, Aaron Washington added 13 points and Charvez' Hobson finished with 11 points. James Harris had a team-high six rebounds and five assists and Caleb Toney had a team-high four steals.
