Hawks fall to Piedmont in overtime

DUE TO CURRENT COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, FANS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT HUNTINGDON BASKETBALL GAMES

 

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's basketball team fell to Piedmont 74-69 in overtime on Saturday.

It was the second tight battle between the two teams in as many days. Piedmont edged the Hawks 74-71 on Friday night.

In Saturday's game, Huntingdon took a nine-point lead midway through the first half. For the final 30 minutes of regulation, neither team would lead by more than five points.

Huntingdon overcame a five-point deficit in the final minute of the second half to force overtime. A free throw by Sam Page and a layup by Ceaunte Zachery made it a two-point game before James Harris scored to tie the game 62-62.

In overtime, tied 67-67 with 1:49 to play, Piedmont hit 7-of-8 free throws to take a 74-67 lead and close out the game.

James Little was one of three Hawks to score in double figures with a team-high 16 points. Zachery added 14 points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks and Keondre Davis scored 13 points.

Caleb Toney had a team-high 11 rebounds and Harris had eight rebounds, four assists and five steals. Dylan Bohling finished with eight points, six rebounds and three steals.
