Hawks Unable to Hold On Against Lynx

Montgomery, Alabama – The Hawks fell to Rhodes 64-59.

To begin the first half the Hawks secured the lead with a made three by Sam Page in the first 30 seconds. Huntingdon held this lead until there was 12:04 remaining in the half as Rhodes made a 3 to go up 15-13. From then on, the first half traded leads three more times before the final score going into half time was 31-28, Lynx. In the first half the Lynx shot 42.86% from the field and 36% from three while making 4 and the Hawks shot 38% and 27% from three-point territory.

In the second half, the game continued to be back and forth until the final seconds. With the score tied at 58 with 1:12 remaining, a free-throw by Max Gardner shot the Hawks up by 1. Rhodes pushed in transition and got a bucket to reclaim the lead 60-59. A team timeout by Huntingdon to draw a play with 42 seconds remaining resulted in a turnover and made jumper for the Lynx who now were up by 3. (63-59) With 19 seconds remaining, Huntingdon tried for a 3 to tie the game that came up just short and resulted in a Huntingdon foul that sent Rhodes to the free-throw line to score the final point of the night.
