Huntingdon men’s golf in 15th entering final round of Golfweek Fall Invitational

DESTIN, Fla. – Junior Sam Strachan shot a second-round 75, sophomore Jamey Lester shot a 76 and freshman Steven Smith shot a 78 to lead the Huntingdon men's golf team on Monday.

Playing in the second round of the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational at the Raven Golf Club, the Hawks' top three scores were similar to Sunday's first round, but the Hawks dropped five spots in the team standings. Huntingdon was 10th after the first round and is 15th entering Tuesday's final round.

Guilford College leads the field at 586 and Illinois Wesleyan and the University of Texas-Tyler are tied for second at 595. Huntingdon is at 626.

Guilford's Noah Ratner leads the individual standings at 7-under-par 135. LaGrange College's Hudson Keener is second at 3-under 139.

Huntingdon's Strachan is tied for 14th at 150, Smith is tied for 18th at 152 and Lester is tied for 28th at 153. Huntingdon sophomore Rodes Bowers is at 171 after two rounds and sophomore Cates Culpepper is at 211.
