Huntingdon men’s golf finishes tied for second in Rhodes Fall Classic

TUNICA, Miss. – Huntingdon junior Sam Strachan finished two strokes out of first and the Huntingdon men's golf team tied for second in the Rhodes Fall Classic on Monday.

Strachan, who was tied for the lead after the first round, finished in third with a two-round 145 at Tunica National Golf Club. Strachan shot a 1-under-par 71 on Sunday and a 2-over 74 on Sunday.

Birmingham-Southern's Landon Michelson won the tournament with a two-round 143. Michelson shot a 1-over 73 on Sunday and a 2-under 70 on Monday. John Dukes (University of Texas-Tyler) was second at 144.

Three other Hawks finished within nine strokes of first. Freshman Steven Smith tied for 15th at 149. Sophomore Jamey Lester and freshman Thomas Mitchell each tied for 27th at 152. Sophomore Cates Culpepper shot 168.

The University of Texas-Tyler won the team title by shooting 581. Huntingdon and Centre College tied for second at 597.
