Huntingdon men’s golf finishes 14th in Golfweek Fall Invitational

DESTIN, Fla. – The Huntingdon men's golf team shot its best round in the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational on Tuesday.

The Hawks shaved off 25 strokes from Monday's second round and shot 295 in the final round. Huntingdon's three-round total of 921 was good for 14th.

Guilford College won the tournament with a three-round score of 874. The University of Texas-Tyler and Illinois Wesleyan tied for second at 883.

Huntingdon junior Sam Strachan shot a 1-under-par 70 in the final round at the Raven Golf Club and finished the tournament tied for 10th at 220. Freshman Steven Smith shot an even-par 71 on Tuesday and finished tied for 17th at 223. Sophomore Jamey Lester tied for 33rd with a 228, followed by sophomore Rodes Bowers at 250 and sophomore Cates Culpepper at 304.

Guilford's Noah Ratner won the individual title with a 9-under 204. Ratner shot 66, 69 and 69. LaGrange College's Hudson Keener was second at 6-under 207.
