Huntingdon men’s golf in 2nd entering final round of GSAC tournament

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's golf team shot 313 on Monday in the first round of the Great South Athletic Conference men's golf tournament at Wynlakes Golf & Country Club.

The Hawks are in second and trail tournament leader LaGrange by 12 strokes. The Panthers shot 301 in the first round. Maryville is third at 315, Covenant is fourth at 321 and Piedmont is fifth at 341.

Jamey Lester led Huntingdon with a 4-over-par 76 in the first round and is tied for third. LaGrange's Hudson Keener leads the field with an even-par 72 and LaGrange's Hunter Keener is second at 3-over 75.

Huntingdon's Sam Strachan and Thomas Mitchell both shot 78 and are tied for seventh. Steven Smith and Tyler Schmutz each shot 81 and are tied for 13th.

The GSAC tournament concludes with the final round on Tuesday at Wynlakes.
