Huntingdon’s Bowers and Smith 1-over-par after first round of Rhodes Fall Classic
TUNICA, Miss. – Junior Rodes Bowers and sophomore Steven Smith led the Huntingdon men's golf team in the opening round of the Rhodes Fall Classic. Bowers and Smith each shot 1-over-par 73 on Sunday at Tunica National and are tied for 13th entering Monday's final round.
Southwestern University's Jordan Cowart leads the field with a 7-under 65 and Emory's Alex Wunderlich is second with a 3-under 69.
As a team, the Hawks shot 302 on Sunday and are in ninth. Southwestern leads the team standings at 281, Emory is second at 294 and Berry College is third at 295.
Behind Bowers and Smith, Huntingdon juniors Jamey Lester and Tyler Schmutz both shot 78 and freshman Riley Manasco shot 84. Freshman David James, playing as an individual, shot 82.
