Hawks tied for 8th, Smith tied for 2nd after Rd. 1 of Golfweek Fall Invitation

SANDESTIN, Fla. – Sophomore Steven Smith shot a 1-under-par 70 on Sunday and the Huntingdon men's golf team shot 299 in the opening round of the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitation.

Smith is one stroke off the lead and tied for second entering Monday's second round at the Raven Golf Course. As a team, the Hawks are 10 strokes off the lead and tied for eighth.

Methodist University leads the team standings at 289 and LaGrange College is second at 290. LaGrange's Cory Howard turned in the low round on Sunday with a 2-under 69.

Huntingdon junior Rodes Bowers shot 75 on Sunday, junior Jamey Lester shot 76, freshman David James shot 78 and junior Tyler Schmutz shot 82.
