Hawks in 13th after Rd. 2 of Golfweek Fall Invitation
SANDESTIN, Fla. – Junior Tyler Schmutz shot 76 on Monday to lead the Huntingdon men's golf team in the second round of the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitation.
The Hawks, who were tied for eighth after the first round, slipped to 13th entering Tuesday's final round at the Raven Golf Course. Huntingdon shot 309 on Monday and has a 36-hole total of 608.
Methodist University shot 290 in the second round and leads the field at 579. St. John's-Minnesota shot 289 on Tuesday and is in second at 581. LaGrange's Cory Howard leads the individual standings at 137.
Huntingdon sophomore Steven Smith and junior Jamey Lester each shot 77 on Tuesday, junior Rodes Bowers shot 79 and freshman David James shot 84.
Smith is 5-over-par after two rounds and tied for 16th at 147. Lester is at 153 after 36 holes, followed by Bowers at 154, Schmutz at 158 and James at 162.
