Huntingdon men’s golf ranked fourth in preseason USA South poll

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Huntingdon men's golf team will open the spring as the fourth-ranked team in the USA South Athletic Conference.

The Hawks totaled 70 points in the preseason poll released on Thursday. Huntingdon is ranked behind preseason favorite LaGrange, No. 2 Methodist and No. 3 Greensboro.

LaGrange, which is ranked fifth in the Golfstat Division III national rankings, received eight first-place votes and 95 points in the conference poll. In second, Methodist had three first-place votes and 93 points and Greensboro is third with 81 points. Methodist finished third in the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championships and Greensboro was 11th.

Averett rounds out the top-5 with 66 points.

This is Huntingdon's first spring as a member of the USA South. The Hawks began competition on March 1-2 at the Callaway Collegiate. The 2014 conference tournament will be held April 11-13 at Benvenue Country Club in Rocky Mount, N.C.
