Bowers’ 73 leads Huntingdon men’s golf in Emory Spring Invitational

ATLANTA – Senior Rodes Bowers shot a 1-over-par 73 to lead the Huntingdon men's golf team in the Emory Spring Invitational on Tuesday.

After the first round was canceled due to the weather on Monday, the tournament was shortened to one round on Tuesday at the Druid Hills Golf Club.

Bowers' 73 tied for 10th in the 82-player field. As a team, the Hawks shot 307 to finish 11th in the 15-team field. Methodist University won the tournament with a score of 291. Oglethorpe and Guilford tied for second at 295.

Methodist's Johnathan Chen and Emory's Jeff Wells tied for first after 18 holes at 3-under 69. Chen won in a playoff.

Behind Bowers, sophomore David James and junior Steven Smith each shot 77 for the Hawks and seniors Jamey Lester and Griffin Just each shot 80.

Huntingdon returns to action on Friday in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament in Rocky Mount, N.C.
