Hawks in seventh after first two rounds of West Cup

BEAUMONT, Calif. – The Huntingdon men's golf team shot 625 in the first two rounds of the West Cup on Monday and is in seventh entering Tuesday's final round at Tukwet Canyon.

The Hawks shot 307 and were in fifth after the first round on Monday. Huntingdon followed up with a 318 in the second round. The University of La Verne leads the tournament at 596. Redlands is second at 597.

La Verne's Alec Spencer shot a 1-under-par 71 and an even-par 72 on Monday and leads the field with a 1-under 143.

Junior David James led the Hawks with a 153 on Monday and is tied for 19th. James shot 3-over-par 75 in the first round and 6-over 78 in the second round. Sophomore Garrett Harrison is two strokes behind James and tied for 22nd at 155. Harrison shot 2-over 74 in the opening round and 81 in the second round.

Behind James and Harrison, freshman Mac Harris shot a two-round 159, sophomore Will Thrash shot 160 and senior Steven Smith shot 164.
