Anderson named USA South Rookie Golfer of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon freshman Alan Anderson was named one of the USA South Men's Golf Athletes of the Week on Wednesday.

Anderson was named Golf Rookie of the Week for his performance in the Wynlakes Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday. Anderson had his best collegiate finish, tying for fourth at 1-over-par 145.

Anderson shot 3-over 75 in the first round before turning in his best collegiate score with a 2-under 70 in the final round.

Methodist junior Mason Stutler and Greensboro junior John Grimes were named Co-Golfers of the Week. Stutler and Grimes each shot 219 during three rounds at the Camp LeJeune Intercollegiate.

Co-Golfers of the Week
Mason Stutler, Methodist - The junior from Fredericksburg, Virginia finished tied for 12th within the Gold Division at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate last week by shooting a five-over par 219. In the three-day event, Stutler opened with a two-over par 74, followed with a one-under par 69 and finished with a four-over par 76. His performance helped the Monarchs finish fourth at the event.

John Grimes, Greensboro - The junior from Matthews, North Carolina finished tied for 12th within the Gold Division at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate last week by shooting a five-over par 219. In the three-day event, Grimes opened with an even-par 72, followed with an even-par 70 and finished with a five-over par 77. His performance helped the Pride finish 14th at the event.

Also Nominated: Cory Howard, LaGrange; Joseph Morris, Piedmont; Garrett Harrison, Huntingdon.


Golf Rookie of the Week
Alan Anderson, Huntingdon - The freshman from Toney, Alabama finished tied for fourth at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate last week by shooting a one-over par 145. In the two-day event, Anderson opened with a three-over par 75 and finished with a two-under par 70. He participated as an individual player at the event. Also Nominated: Rand Gibson, Averett; Sam Hill, Piedmont; Aaron Purviance, Methodist.
