Hawks place third in USA South Men’s Golf Tournament

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Huntingdon men's golf team closed out the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament with a 301 in the final round.

The first nine holes of the final round were played on Saturday and the final nine holes were completed on Sunday.

Huntingdon finished third in the three-round tournament with a 904. LaGrange College won the nine-team tournament for a second straight year with a three-round 871. Methodist was the runner-up at 890. LaGrange is ranked No. 3 in Division III and Methodist is ranked No. 4

Freshman Mac Harris led the Hawks in the final round with a 2-over-par 74 and finished the tournament tied for 10th with a 223. Sophomores Will Thrash and Garrett Harrison tied for 12th at 227. Thrash shot 78 in the final round and Harrison shot a 4-over 76.

Junior David James shot a 3-over 75 in the final round and finished tied for 21st at 230. Senior Steven Smith turned in a 4-over 76 in the final round and finished 25th with a three-round 233.

LaGrange senior, and USA South Golfer of the Year, Cory Howard won the tournament with a 6-under 210.
