Huntingdon’s Ring named USA South Golfer of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon junior Chad Ring turned in a solid three-round performance in the Golfweek D3 Fall Invitational earlier this week.

Ring was recognized on Wednesday by being named the USA South Men's Golfer Week.

Ring shot a 3-over-par 214 for the tournament and finished seventh in the field of 90 golfers. He tuned in his best round as a Hawk on Monday with a 3-under 68 in the second round.

Averett's Samuli Ahvenoja was named the USA South Rookie Golfer of the Week.

Golfer of the Week
ChadRing, Huntingdon - The junior from Peachtree City, Georgia finished seventh out of 90 golfers at the Golfweek Fall Invitational last week by shooting a one-over par 214. In the three-day event, Ring opened with a one-over par 72, followed that up with a three-under par 68 and finished with a three-over par 74. His performance helped the Hawks to a ninth place team finish. Also Nominated: Sam Hill, Piedmont; Keegan Howver, Ferrum.

 

Golf Rookie of the Week
Samuli Ahvenoja, Averett - The freshman from Espoo, Finland finished tied for 14th out of 90 golfers at the Ted Keller Memorial Tournament at Hanover Country Club in Ashland, Virginia last week by shooting an 11-over par 151. In the two-day event, Ahvenoja opened with an eight-over par 78 and finished with a three-over par 73. His performance helped the Cougars to an eighth-place-tie team finish. Also Nominated: Grady Anderson, N.C. Wesleyan; Phillip Beard, Piedmont.
