Lambeth and Hawks close fall with win in O’Briant-Jensen Memorial

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Huntingdon men's golf team closed out the fall season by winning the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial on Tuesday at Sedgefield Country Club.

The Hawks shot 304 in the final round and finished with a two-round score of 606 to win the 18-team tournament by six strokes. Wittenberg was second at 612.

Huntingdon junior Addison Lambeth was the tournament medalist with a 1-over-par 143. Lambeth, who won the tournament by six strokes, shot a 3-under 68 on Monday and a 4-over 75 in the final round.

The team win is Huntingdon's first since the 2010-11 season. Lambeth's individual win is the first by a Hawk since the 2011-12 season.

"We got off to a rough start but we played great on the back nine to seal the deal," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "This is the toughest course in Division III golf and I am so proud of the way the boys finished. Chase Feagin was the catalyst down the stretch with five birdies on the final nine, including four straight, and it was great to see Addison put the cap on the individual win.

"This is the kind of day we've been looking for to help create confidence. This is just the start for us and we're looking forward to the spring season."

Lambeth was one of two Hawks to finish in the top three. Junior Chad Ring tied for third with a 9-over 151. Ring shot a 5-over 76 in the first round and a four-over 75 in the final round.

Feagin shot a 4-over-75 in the final round and tied for 13th at 155. Junior Will Thrash tied for 22nd at 157 and sophomore Jon Colten Stanaland shot 166. Playing as an individual, freshman Stephen Shephard shot 160.

Huntingdon returns to action on March 7 in the Callaway Invitational.
