Men’s golf tied for second in USA South preseason poll
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Huntingdon men's golf team enters the spring season tied for second in the USA South Athletic Conference.
The Hawks received two first-place votes and 85 points in the preseason poll released on Thursday. Huntingdon is ranked behind preseason favorite and defending national champion Methodist.
Methodist, which is ranked second in the Golfstat Division III national rankings, received nine first-place votes and 98 total points in the conference poll. Two-time defending conference champion and 2015 national runner-up LaGrange is tied with the Hawks for second in the USA South poll. Huntingdon is ranked 11th in the national poll and LaGrange is 19th.
Rounding out the top-6 in the conference poll are fourth-place Greensboro with 73 points, fifth-place Ferrum with 62 points and sixth-place Piedmont with 61 points.
The Hawks open the spring season in the Callaway Invitational on March 7.
