Lambeth qualifies for US Mid-Amateur Championship

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon golfer Addison Lambeth qualified for the US Mid-Amateur Championship on Monday with runner-up finish in the US Mid-Amateur Championship sectional qualifier.

Lambeth shot a 3-under-par 67 at the Montgomery Country Club to earn one of the four qualifying spots. Lambeth was the runner-up to medalist Jackson Beindorf. The former Auburn University golfer shot a 5-under 65.

"The USGA runs the best events in the world and it's a big deal for Addison to qualify for one of their championships," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "It will be a great way to get his fall season kicked off."

John Barnett of Nashville, Tenn., and Matthew Gourgeot of Decatur, Ala., earned the final two qualifying positions. With four golfers tied at 2-under 68 after 18 holes, Barnett and Gourgeot survived a playoff with Hank Lamberth (Alexander City, Ala.) and Richard Douglas (Mountain Brook, Ala.) to earn the final spots. Lamberth (first alternate) and Douglas (second alternate) earned the two alternate positions.

The US Mid-Amateur Championship will be held at Stonewall Links in Elverson, Pa., on Sept. 10-15.
