Former Hawk Durant earns first individual win on Champions Tour

BLAINE, Minn. – Former Huntingdon golfer Joe Durant sank a 10-foot eagle putt on the first hole of a playoff to win the PGA Tour Champions' 3M Championship on Sunday.

Durant shot a 9-under-par 63 in the final round at TPC Twins Cities to force the first 3M playoff since 1998. Durant and Miguel Angel were each tied at 19-under 197 entering the playoff.

This was the 52-year-old Durant's second win in three seasons on the Champions Tour, but his first individual win. Durant earned his first win on the 50-and-over tour by teaming with Billy Andrade to win the Legends of Golf in 2015.

Between 1996-2006, Durant won four PGA tournaments and one Web.com Tour tournament.

"It was great to see Joe get his first individual title on the Champions Tour," said Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer, who was a teammate of Durant's for two seasons at Huntingdon. "He is a true champion."

Durant, a 1999 inductee into the Huntingdon College Athletic Hall of Fame, was a three-time All-American for the Hawks, played on two NAIA national championship teams and was the NAIA individual national champion in 1987.
