NORMAN, Okla. – The Huntingdon men's golf team ranked No. 3 in Division III with the release of the Bushnell Golfweek Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Reigning NCAA Division III Men's Golf Champions, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, received 14 first-place votes and totaled 463 points.

It's nice to be recognized by the coaches' poll," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "No. 3 is a good spot for us and it will keep us hungry for the top spot. Our team is really strong and deep this year and that will help us for the future."

Methodist University was voted second with one first-place vote and 434 points. The Monarchs tied for fifth in the NCAA Tournament and won the USA South Athletic Conference Championship in April.

Huntingdon received two first-place votes and finished with 426 points. The Hawks finished the 2016 season as the runner-up in the NCAA Tournament and finished second in the conference championships.

The Hawks open their 2016-17 season at the D3 National Championship Preview at the Mission Inn Golf Course in Howey In The Hills, Fla. on Sept. 18.
