Top-ranked Huntingdon in 3rd after Rd. 1 of Golfweek D3 Invitational

DESTIN, Fla. – The No. 1 ranked Huntingdon men's golf team shot 3-over-par 287 in the opening round of the Golfweek D3 Fall Invitational on Sunday.

One of 14 nationally ranked teams in the 19-team field, the Hawks are two strokes off the lead entering Monday's second round at the Raven Golf Course.

"This was an interesting day for us," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "We were rolling early but we got a touch ahead of ourselves. It was a solid start for us and we're only two strokes off the lead. But we want to finish our round better on Monday."

Tenth-ranked University of Texas-Tyler shot 1-over 285 on Sunday and leads the tournament. Seventh-ranked Rhodes College is second with a 2-over 286. Behind Huntingdon, 13th-ranked Concordia-Texas and 12th-ranked Emory shot 5-over 289 and are tied for fourth.
