FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Huntingdon men's golf team took two top honors and had four golfers recognized with the release of the USA South All-Conference awards on Wednesday.

Senior Addison Lambeth was named USA South Player of the Year and Director of Golf Dave Schreyer was named USA South Coach of the Year. This is the second straight Coach of the Year honor for Schreyer.

Lambeth and senior Will Thrash were each named first-team All-Conference, senior Chad Ring was named second-team All-Conference and sophomore Stephen Shephard was named honorable mention All-Conference. Ring was also named to the All-Sportsmanship team.

"I'm proud of my boys. They have worked hard for these honors," Schreyer said. "It has been a heck of a year but we have some unfinished business.

"I am honored to be named Coach of the Year by my peers. That means a lot. But it is a reflection of the commitment this team has shown to trust the process. I am blessed to coach a determined group of young men who make me look good."

Lambeth is the first Hawk to be named USA South Player of the Year. Lambeth, who was named the Division III Jack Nicklaus Player of the Year, the USA South Don Scalf Award winner and tied for second in the NCAA National Championship last season, has spent most of his senior season ranked No. 1 in Division III.

Entering this week's conference tournament, Lambeth has won two straight tournaments and has finished in the top three six times in eight tournaments. He is averaging 70.55 per round in 20 rounds this season, almost two strokes better than last season. Lambeth set the Hawks' NCAA-era record for strokes per round last season at 72.37.

Lambeth has shot par or better in 13 rounds this season and has seven rounds in the 60s, including Huntingdon's best round of the NCAA era, a 6-under-par 64 in the Emory Spring Invitational. His two-round total of 134 in the tournament was one stroke off Huntingdon's NCAA-era record set by Lambeth last season.

Thrash is making his third appearance on the All-Conference team but appears as a first-team selection for the first time in his career. He was a second-team selection in 2015 and an honorable mention selection last season. Thrash enters the USA South tournament as the No. 7 golfer in Division III.

Thrash has two wins in eight tournaments and is averaging 72.05 per round, which is currently tied for second best by a Hawk during the NCAA era. The Prattville, Ala., native has shot par or better in 10 of 20 rounds and has six rounds in the 60s. Thrash fired a 6-under 65 in the Gordin Classic last fall, which at the time was best round by a Hawk during the NCAA era.

Ring, a native of Peachtree City, Ga., is averaging 73.90 in 20 rounds this season. In eight tournaments, Ring has two top-10 finishes and has shot par or better in seven rounds. He finished a season-best fourth in the Gordin Classic and tied for sixth in the Wynlakes Intercollegiate. He enters the USA South tournament ranked 39th in Division III.

Shephard was named Rookie of the Year last season and has competed in seven tournaments this season. The Niceville, Fla., native is ranked 37th in Division III and has four top-16 finishes for the season. He is averaging 74.19 per round.

Schreyer is in his fourth full season as Huntingdon's head coach and has guided his team to five wins in eight tournaments this season. The five wins are the most in a season for Huntingdon since the 2009-10 season and are tied for the second most during the NCAA era.

The Hawks have been ranked No. 1 since September and won three of four tournaments in the fall. Huntingdon has not finished lower than fourth this season and is averaging 288.45 per round, almost nine strokes better than last season and almost four strokes better than the Hawks' record as a NCAA team.

Greensboro's Grant Powell was named USA South Golf Rookie of the Year. In 22 rounds, the freshman is averaging 73.3 and has one win.

The Hawks are the No. 1 seed entering the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament in LaGrange, Ga. The Hawks tee off at 9:20 a.m. (Eastern) on Thursday at the Highland Country Club.
