Huntingdon remains in 3rd after Rd. 2 of USA South Tournament

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon men's golf team is eight strokes off the lead and in third place after the first two rounds of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament.

The top-ranked Hawks shot 297 in the second round and are at 13-over-par 589 entering Saturday's final round at the Highland Country Club.

Tenth-ranked Greensboro leads the tournament with a 5-over 581 and fourth-ranked Methodist is second with a 7-over 583. Sixth-ranked LaGrange is fourth at 593.

LaGrange's Logan Lanier shot a 2-under 70 in both the first round and second round and leads the field with a 4-under 140.

Huntingdon sophomore Stephen Shephard is tied for fourth with an even-par 144. Shephard shot a 4-over 74 on Friday. Senior Addison Lambeth is 11th with a 4-over 148 and senior Chad Ring is tied for 14th with a 6-over 150. Ring led the Hawks with an even-par 72 in the second round.

Rounding out the top five for the Hawks are sophomore Mark Connelly and senior Will Thrash. Connelly is tied for 17th with a 7-over 151 and Thrash is tied for 28th with a 10-over 154.
