Hawks tied for 5th entering Day 2 of Tournament Town Preview
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Huntingdon men's golf team shot 295 in the first round of the Tournament Town Preview on Sunday.
With one partial round and one full round to play, the Hawks are tied for fifth at 13-over-par in the 18-team tournament.
Sunday's second round was suspended due to darkness. Ten teams, including the Hawks, will finish Round 2 on Monday. Four of Huntingdon's golfers completed Round 2. Senior Jon Colten Stanaland has one hole to play in the second round.
Junior Stephen Shephard is five strokes off the lead with a 2-over 146 in the first two rounds and is tied for 12th. Junior Mark Connelly is one stroke behind Shephard at 3-over 147 and is tied for 20th. Sophomore Drew Mathers shot 4-over 148 and is tied for 26th.
Illinois Wesleyan's Jonathan Nocek and Conner O'Neil are tied for first. Nocek shot a 3-under 141 in the first two rounds. With two holes to play in the second round, O'Neil is also at 3-under.
Top-ranked University of Texas-Tyler completed both rounds on Sunday and leads the tournament with a 6-under 570. Illinois Wesleyan, which still has to complete Round 2, is in second at even-par. Emory is third with a 6-over 582 after two complete rounds.

Director of Golf Dave Schreyer on Sunday: "It is early in the season and we are making a ton of mistakes. We are young and it is a learning process. Each golfer on this team is going to have to step up his game if we are going to be relevant this year."
