Hawks named preseason favorite in USA South golf poll

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Huntingdon men's golf team enters the spring season as the top team in the USA South Athletic Conference.

The Hawks were named the preseason favorite with the release of the conference preseason poll on Tuesday. This is the second straight season Huntingdon has been named the preseason No. 1.

Huntingdon received eight first-place votes and totaled 118 points in the poll. Methodist, the two-time defending conference champion, is second with four first-place votes and 114 points.

Behind Huntingdon and Methodist, North Carolina Wesleyan is third with 94 points, Greensboro is fourth with 88 points and Maryville rounds out the top-five with 76 points.

Huntingdon, which tied for fourth in the NCAA Tournament last season, is ranked second nationally in the Bushnell Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll. Methodist, which finished seventh in the NCAA Tournament, is ranked sixth nationally.

Huntingdon opens the spring season in the Callaway Gardens Invitational on March 5-6.
