Weather cancels final round of Callaway Gardens Invitational

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The first event of the spring ended early for the Huntingdon men's and women's golf teams as the final round of the Callaway Gardens Invitational was canceled on Tuesday due to the weather.

The second-ranked Huntingdon men's golf team shot 7-over-par 295 in the first round on Monday and finished fifth. Eighteenth-ranked Oglethorpe won the 18-team tournament with a 3-under 285.

Emory's Matt Organisak and Rhodes' Corrie Kuehn each shot 3-under 69 in the opening round and tied for first. Huntingdon junior Henry Gee tied for fifth with a 1-under 71.

In the women's tournament, the 13th-ranked Lady Hawks shot 340 on Monday and finished 12th. Sixteenth-ranked Methodist University won the 14-team tournament with a 6-over 298.

Methodist's Johnna Beehner was the medalist with a 7-under 66. Freshman Olivia Hickson led Huntingdon with an 82.
